Pleated Mullet

Hi Lovelies, counting down - only 3 more sleeps until we move into our new place! Im going to use moving as a great opportunity to de-clutter and get rid of stuff we dont need/use. Not sure what Its going to be like on here in terms of posts from now on....we've been told the internet wont get coverage at the new place (even though its not even a 5 minute drive from our current house) and Im not sure how long it will take to get internet with another company after we move in so hold tight people I will get on here when I can - hopefully tomorrow but from then on no idea. In the mean time feast your eyes on this pleated mullet dress I got when I was in Australia, it was like $20 and I love electric blue so I couldnt say no!

Black and white basics that is! Changed it up with a black lace skirt and some bright jewellery. Hope you all had a fab weekend, I had a busy one with a Birthday party Friday night, beerfest Saturday then a 21st Saturday night. I was intending on gardening and packing yesterday but I may or may not have been extremely hungover....ooops. Oh well means more shite to do after work each day this week, least its summer so it will still be daylight after work!! I am getting kinda excited about settling into our new house though eeeee and hopefully the noisy neighbours are gone or not so noisy.

An Adventure

Hi Sweeties, while ago the bf and I went for a drive out to Sumner, we hadnt been there since the earthquakes but had heard it was pretty hard hit. There are alot of cliffs and hills out that way which crumbled with the earthquakes and aftershocks. We had some lunch and went for a wander on the beach, check out some pics below of the beach, houses teetering over cliffs and what sumner looks like a year on from the big quake.

Sumner - Check out my beautiful ride (the white Subaru)

Shipping containers in place in case of cliff falls

MOi

Sumner beach, stupid wind kept blowing up the top part of my dress it has a wee ruffle around the top

Maxi - Factorie

Hour teetering on a cliff

Another abandoned home

The drive home past big cliffs protected by shipping containers - kinda puts you on edge driving past!

I have a busy weekend ahead with a Birthday party, 21st, The Beer Festival, packing, cleaning....whew! We move next weekend and I feel like we've done nothing.....Im sure we'll sort it out though.

One Year On

Today is a pretty sad day, it is the one year anniversary of the Christchurch quake  that killed 185 of my fellow Cantabrians. It has changed our lives forever, people have lost loved ones, houses, businesses, limbs, you name it, there are many lucky people like me who survived with no injuries, but the emotional struggle isnt easy either. We were forced to move as our house sustained bad damage, stress, anxiety from worrying when the next quake is going to hit.....you see where Im going with this, its not easy. We had some time off work today to watch the memorial service which was very moving, there was songs, speeches, they read out the names of the 185 that lost their lives and released 185 Monarch butterflies in their honour.  We all observed 2 minutes silence at 12.51 which is when the earthwuake hit last year. I managed not to cry but a few workmates did.

James and I did a bus tour of the "red zone" which is the inner city which is still cordoned off in November and it was very sad to see a once thriving city centre reduced to rubble, overgrown weeds and grass and ge gaps where buildings were. Here are some pictures below to give you an idea of what it was/is like in some areas of my city, along with the outfit I wore to work today - black and red the colours of Canterbury.

What we came home to on February 22 2011

Our house - to the left behind the bench smashed glasses & plas everywhere

A once thriving Hotel/Pub ripped to shreds

Cracks on the outside of our old home

Beutiful old Church where lots of weddings were held

Overgrown grass in central chch - the PGC building that collapsed & killed many was beside the building to the left

A devastated building

Where that dirt is used to be a block of shops - when I worked in the area we used to get hot chips for lunch at one of the shops

My outfit today - Heels - Cotton On, Top - Warehouse, Skirt - Glassons, Tights - Farmers

On a positive note we are all looking forward to the future here in Christchurch - after all we are going to get a brand new city centre at some stage! I will see you tomorrow with an outfit post.

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of the deadly quake that killed 185 here in Christchurch. We will be watching the memorial service at work, hopefully I dont get too emotional! I will be wearing red and black as a mark of respect - hope at least my readers in New Zealand can do the same!
